Caerphilly holiday cottages
As well as the town which shares it name, Caerphilly County is also home to one of the largest medieval fortresses in the whole of Europe, Caerphilly Castle. Wales, particularly the South, is famous for its many castles and Caerphilly is not only the biggest but undoubtedly one of the finest. With construction beginning in 1268, Caerphilly Castle has a long and fascinating history which makes for an absorbing day out. With other historic buildings in the area, such as the sixteenth century manor house, Llancaiach Faw Manor, the county of Caerphilly is a great destination if you have an interest in history.
