It has the added benefit of having restaurants and bars within walking distance where you can enjoy a romantic meal or a few drinks out after a day of exploring. The shore path at Bassenthwaite runs the length of the west shore and the open-air theatre at Mirehouse is worth a visit. For something a little different why not walk an alpaca or abseil 120ft into a disused quarry? A 14-mile drive away is Keswick which hosts the popular Mountain Festival with some world-class sports outdoor activities talks and films with live music. Accessed from an external staircase this fully refurbished first-floor apartment is comfortable and welcoming.
