2 Eden Grove Cottages cottage The Lake District and Cumbria
As part of a conversion of a former stable block this property is an attractive, mid terrace house situated on a quiet lane in the centre of Armathwaite. The cottage has been lovingly restored and decorated to a high standard throughout, in order to provide warm welcoming accommodation. The quality furnishings and minimal, elegant styling complement the period features of the property, including original beams, exposed sandstone walls and a wood burning stove. The village of Armathwaite itself provides an array of interesting walks and the essential amenities of a shop and two village pubs. Other activities throughout the area are within easy driving distance too.
Ideally placed for exploring the Lake District, Eden Valley and the lovely coastline of the Solway Firth, Armathwaite is an attractive, unspoiled rural village. This charming settlement has two old pubs - both with popular restaurants - a post office and a traditional village shop. The River Eden runs through the centre of the village itself whilst the surrounding area is renowned for its excellent salmon fishing, walking, canoeing and climbing. The impressive Armathwaite Castle is a four-storey Pele Tower, and the 15th Century Church provides fine examples of stained glass windows. The Eden Gorge, situated between Lazonby and Armathwaite, is amongst Cumbria`s best-kept secrets making it a quiet day out away from the tourists. Penrith hosts the Rheged Discovery Centre which gives visitors a chance to see the largest grass covered building in the country whilst Dalemain Historic House - featured in a television production of Jane Eyre – is also within easy driving distance.
