Alnwick House cottage Northumbria
Alnwick House is a Grade II listed, stone-built, end-terrace townhouse, in the centre of Alnwick and can sleep six people. The cottage is set over three floors and has a second floor double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a ground floor adult bunks room with an en-suite basin and WC, a second floor bathroom, a first floor basin and WC, a first floor kitchen and dining area, a ground floor sitting room with an electric fire and a basement games room. Outside there is roadside parking in roads just a short stroll from the cottage, lockable bike storage and a shared patio. Alnwick House is a wonderful holiday base.
This part of Northumberland is famous for its unspoilt beauty, and is widely recognised as having some of the most picturesque countryside in the whole of England. The area offers a wonderful combination of coastline and countryside, having long sandy beaches and the Cheviot Hills complementing each other perfectly. There are also a great number of well-preserved and spectacular medieval castles and stately homes in the area, including the fantastic Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and often referred to as "The Windsor of the North". Alnwick itself was once a prosperous medieval market town, being only a day`s ride from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north and Newcastle upon Tyne in the south. It is still a charming maze of cobbled streets and narrow alleys, whilst its fine stone buildings now house a range of specialist shops and family-run businesses. Visitors can still enjoy the atmosphere of Alnwick as it may have been in Medieval times in the town`s recently refurbished Market Place, which is also the centre for local events, including Alnwick Fair and the International Music Festival.
