The village of Appledore has long been a popular retreat with its maze of cobbled streets and quaint traditional cottages, located off the quay, that enjoys a selection of shops, welcoming pubs and restaurants. Holidaying in Appledore allows you to relinquish reliance on the car, with a regular bus service leading along the coast and to North Devon's hub towns. The traditional Victorian seaside village of Westward Ho! is easily reached and enjoys England's oldest golf course, Royal North Devon, that criss-crosses the Northam Burrows Country Park and is protected by the naturally occurring pebble ridge that runs the length of this 2 mile golden sandy beach. Within a short journey you can be within the rolling countryside that Devon is famed for, and that is also littered with numerous National Trust properties, RHS gardens and a wealth of family attractions all within easy reach. Or why not simply relax on the balcony and while away your evenings watching the fishing and pleasure boats drift up and down the estuary.
