Edzell, 4 miles away, has local shops, hotels and a golf course while the city of Brechin, 10 miles away is home to the Pictavia visitor centre and the Caledonian Steam Railway. From Edzell a scenic hill road leads over the Cairn o' Mount Pass to Royal Deeside and the Aberdeenshire Castle Trail.
