Further afield but still within easy reach is the Brecon Beacons (23 miles) perfect for both two- and four-legged walkers while Cwm Rhaeadr Forest (26 miles) has some fantastic mountain biking trails. Hay-on-Wye (19.5 miles) on the cusp of the Welsh border boasts independent bookshops Hay Castle and the Globe at Hay which hosts an array of performances.
