Nestled on the outskirts of the wondrous Exmoor National Park and the glorious coastline of Devon is the elegantly appointed detached holiday accommodation The Old Rectory Cottage. Settled in a quiet idyll of rural bliss it is perfectly suited for couples or small families to spend days soaking up the Devonshire sunshine. A short drive away is the traditional Victorian seaside town of Ilfracombe offering a wealth of shops pubs and restaurants as well as traditional amusement arcades cinema Landmark Theatre and Damien Hirsts Verity . Other attractions include Lynton and Lynmouth Exmoor National Park Watermouth Castle Lee Abbey The Wildlife and Dinosaur Park Exmoor Zoo and The North Devon Farm Park. Closer to home visit Combe Martin which boasts a pretty harbour and sheltered sandy bay with a 17th Century inn post office bakery and a selection of independent shops. Public walking paths are located virtually outside the front door where you can explore the bounty of wildlife and fauna including our wild residents of red deer buzzards and an abundance of birds including our lovely woodpeckers. Also nearby the South West Coast Path offers walks with breath-taking views and enthusiastic walkers can head out towards the expansive local surfing beaches. The cottage grounds neighbour with the National Trust property of Arlington Court home to the most significant collection of carriages in the country and fabulous woodland play areas for the children. On arrival take a moment to drink in the scents of the productive old Victorian terrace garden and stunning views before stepping inside this delightful property and you enter a porch/boot room which leads directly into the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where you can enjoy an evening meal or cosy up in front of the woodburning stove with a book in hand. Alternatively take a blanket light the firepit and sit outside toasting marshmallows and wonder in the big starry sky. When the weather calls for it take your meals alfresco use the BBQ and help yourself to the organic herbs grown in the outdoor pots before you savour a moment of relaxation by soaking your muscles in the bubbling hot tub with far stretching private country views. Need to know: 2 Bedrooms 1 king and 1 single. 1 Bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine and washing machine. Private Hot Tub Wood burner (first basket of logs included). Off road parking for 1 car (access is steep). 1 dog welcome (further by arrangement) you may be asked to keep dogs on leads in the communal garden areas. Guest use iPad with magazine subscriptions and links of things to do in the area. Many Wild and Tame birds to watch, including the resident Peacock. Beach and shop 5 miles and pub within walking distance. Charcoal BBQ and fire pit. Smart TV in lounge. Use of a variety of beginners surf/body boards, bikes and fishing nets. Garden with pond on site. Dog friendly country pub just a stroll away.
