Set among the 5-acre grounds of the owners property this charming two-bedroom barn conversion is ideal for families seeking a relaxing base from which to explore the Brecon Beacons National Park. The cottage enjoys an elevated position above the tiny village of Maes-y-Gwartha and the larger village of Gilwern (1 mile) has a choice of pubs and local stores. Step out of the front door for long walks through the scenic countryside or hop in the saddle for a day spent mountain biking through the valley. The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal runs through Gilwern offering rambles along the towpath and boats are available for hire at Gilwern Wharf. The attractive town of Crickhowell (4 miles) is well worth a visit with its vibrant high street full of independent stores and award-winning pubs and restaurants. Further afield visit Blaenavon Ironworks (6.5 miles) to discover the industrial heritage of the area or head to the Roman town of Caerleon (21.5 miles) to explore the amphitheatre barracks and preserved Roman baths. Enjoying magnificent views across the Sugar Loaf and Blorenge mountains this delightful single-storey barn conversion one of two holiday properties at this location offers light and airy accommodation decorated in neutral tones throughout. Enter the front door and step up into the open-plan living space with original oak beams and stone tiled floor. Filled with natural light from the patio doors leading to the garden this is a space designed with relaxation in mind. The well-equipped kitchen comes with an electric hob and oven dishwasher microwave fridge and freezer. There is also a washing machine available by arrangement with the owner. Chat about the highlights of your day as you enjoy meals at the dining table which comfortably seats all guests. After a long day of walking in the Brecon Beacons sink into one of the sofas and chairs for a relaxed evening watching a favourite programme on the TV. When its time for bed step through to the two well-appointed bedrooms both with en-suite facilities. The first bedroom is a restful double with en-suite shower room and WC and doors leading onto the garden. A cosy twin bedroom also has a door leading to the garden and enjoys an en-suite shower room with WC. Venturing outside via one step light the BBQ for a relaxed evening meal before setting up the telescope to spot the constellations in the clear sky above.
