COUNTRYSIDE SETTING, TREE BORDERED MEADOWS, DONKEY, CHICKENS, CATS AND DOG, SLEEPS 4+1
"Get away from it all" relax, unwind and soak up the peace and tranquillity of the unspoilt North Devon countryside in this charmingly restored property. Formerly built c1500 as a grain store and latterly with attached stabling for the working shire horses of the day, it has been tastefully and carefully converted to provide all the modern day conveniences and comforts whilst still retaining many of the original stone and beam features.
This central rural country retreat in the heartland of Devon is set in a 15 acres, part stream bordered estate, surrounded by meadows, amidst trees and hedgerows that Devon is so known for, which in springtime are bedecked with wild primroses and violets. The location of this hidden gem offers relaxing surroundings and walks "far from the madding crowds" and, set midway between the wild expanses of Dartmoor and Exmoor and the rugged coastlines and sandy beaches of the North and South Devon coasts which makes it an ideal base to explore these along with all the other local popular attractions. Enjoy the local, beautiful gardens of RHS Rosemoor or try your skills at fishing, golf, horse riding and even flying, all of which are available locally and at the end of your day in the warmer months relax, recharge your batteries and plan your next day's adventures 'alfresco' style whilst enjoying views over the countryside. In the chillier months the woodburner provides a cosy romantic atmosphere in which to relax and catch up with some reading or simply chill with your favourite tipple.
This detached period property offers TWO bedrooms: both with washbasins, 1 double with 4 poster bed, TV and Freeview in an upstairs apex-beamed room accessed either by an internal wrought-iron spiral staircase from the lounge, or external stone steps. 1 twin on the ground floor with wooden paddle style staircase to a galleried, quiet seating / play area with futon style chair bed (suitable for a child to sleep on). The snug is perfect for playing board games or chilling out with a good book. Shower room: upstairs and separate WC. Lounge / diner: with original beams and stonework, features woodburner (logs available - first basket free October - May only), TV, Freeview, DVD and large window overlooking the main courtyard. Kitchen: a stone archway leads to a modern and equipped kitchen with natural stone floor, fridge (with small freezer box), electric cooker, microwave, washer / dryer, hi-fi and many other extras.
Outside: a stable door from the kitchen leads to a private garden with built-in BBQ, beyond this there are further gardens and a small lake with seating. Opposite the kitchen door is a gate leading directly onto tree bordered meadows.
Amenities: ample parking. Bed linen, towels, electric and Wi-Fi included. Regret no smoking in the property. 1 medium-sized pet welcome.
Additional info: upon your arrival a COMPLIMENTARY CREAM TEA awaits to welcome you at this delightfully converted 16th century granary.
