The Granary cottage Heart of England
The Granary is located just 6 miles from Church Stretton and was originally a barn used as part of a working farm. It has been tastefully converted to offer accommodation for up to 5 people. Much of the barn`s original charm has been retained through features such as exposed beams and a wood-burning stove. The hallway sports an oak staircase and leads to the dining area up a set of original stone steps. For romantic couples, there is a four-poster bed and, for larger groups, there is shared use of a games room with its own snooker table. Outside the Granary is a small garden which lends itself to al fresco dining in the summer months.
This huge hill is topped by a moorland plateau of heather and rocks and broken on the eastern side by a series of hollows or "batches". This is a popular walking area - ideal for exploring the Shropshire Hills. Church Stretton is the first town in Shropshire to receive Walkers Welcome status. Walkers Welcome towns are places which have something special to offer for walkers more than simply being a fantastic place to come an enjoy the great outdoors. The town also holds its own annual Walking Festival in June. In the Carding Mill Valley, there is a thriving antiques centre with over 60 stalls. This is open every day and nearby Acton Scott Historic Farm will give you a taste of 19th Century farming. There are attractions to suit every age and taste in this region, from the Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom to the historic Dudmaston Hall.
