Deep in the heart of the South Hams lies the coastal village of Bantham at the mouth of the River Avon, close to Salcombe, Ki ngsbridge and Bigbury Bay. This tiny unspoiled village is most well-known for its vast sandy beach with rolling sand dunes, voted one of the top beaches in all of Europe, with its soft shallow sands ideal for swimming and paddling making it a popular for families. The village has whitewashed thatched cottages, a village store and the popular village pub The Sloop Inn. Lying in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the estuary and surrounding areas are a natural haven for wildlife and popular with walkers who can enjoy the magnificent scenery along the coastal footpath.
