The Retreat cottage Peak District
This exceptional detached barn conversion has retained the character of the building and boasts exposed beams in many of the rooms. It has been stylishly furnished to a high standard and is a lovely, romantic hideaway for a couple. The accommodation is all on ground level with a modern, well equipped fitted kitchen on open plan with a dining area and sitting room with a contemporary plasma fire making it a cosy and welcoming space. The spacious bedroom has a calm and elegant atmosphere with an en-suite wet room, outside the barn is a lovely garden with a barbecue and furniture. There is a shop two miles away and a pub just a five minute walk from the property. A fabulous location for a romantic holiday.
The village of Hollington is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086 and is a scattered village consisting of traditional brick built cottages, farmhouses and barn conversions. Surrounded by glorious rolling countryside and farmland the village is steeped in history and makes a lovely peaceful base for a holiday. Nearby is the quintessentially English market town of Ashbourne with its cobbled streets, coaching inns and old market stalls. Ashbourne has a variety of shops and restaurants and is a delight for antique collectors. Outdoor pursuits are well catered for with many walking and cycling trails close to the area, including the Dove and Manifold valleys. For the young, and young at heart Alton Towers theme park offers thrills for the whole family to enjoy.
