Co. Antrim holiday cottages
Home to Belfast (or at least part of it) County Antrim is one of the more popular tourist destinations in Ireland. The gateway to Northern Ireland, the county is served with an extremely good transport infrastructure which makes it ideal for a last minute short break. Antrim is not only home to Belfast's two airports, but also two of Northern Ireland's largest ferry ports. Once in Antrim, the Translink Northern Ireland Railway provides terrific links between Belfast, Antrim, Ballymena, Coleraine and Londonderry. The hilly countryside is littered with historical monuments including cairns, mounts and forts. Carrickfergus, a castle that dates back to the Norman Invasion of Ireland, is one of the best-preserved medieval structures in the country. Ireland's most popular tourist attraction the Giant's Causeway - 40,000 basalt interlocking columns which were the result of ancient volcanic eruptions. Places to stay vary and depending on your needs, you should find it easy to stay in everything from child friendly accommodation to holiday cottages to luxury apartments.
