Deal and the surrounding area is steeped in maritime history. Deal and Walmer both have castles ready to be discovered and museum lovers will enjoy the Time Ball Tower and Maritime Museum. For the more active, walkers and cyclists can explore Fowlmead Country Park whilst golfers can choose between the many courses in the area and sailors and anglers can take to the sea from the pier. Nearby are Ramsgate, Canterbury and Dover, with France a popular day excursion.
