Berkeley CastleBerkeley Castle is a historic building and was built in 1117 it still belongs to the Berkeley family. It is know as the scene of the brutal murder of Edward II in 1327. It is open to the public from April- October for tours around the castle view different rooms, that hold lots of furniture, rare paintings, tapestries. Some rooms have displays of the famous Berkeleys silver. The castle is surrounded by beautiful terraced Elizabethan Gardens with a lily pond. In 2008 the castle was give a licence to hold weddings, so a perfect venue for those who wise a dream wedding and also hold special events threw out the summer outside, such as English Strings Orchestra Concerts, Lister Tyndale Steam Rally, Ghost Hunts, Castle at Christmas and Carol Concerts for the winter time Uley Long Barrow (Hetty Peglers Tump) near NympsfieldUley Long Barrow is also know as Hetty Peglers Tump, is a partly reconstructed Neolithic chambered mound, 37 metres (120 ft) long, atmospherically sited overlooking the Severn Valley. In the 17th century Hetty Pegler was the landowner hence the name Hetty Peglers Tump. The mound has a central passage dividing two chambers. Inside is a restricted area, however this should not put you off from visiting this Neolithic site

Gloucestershire is located on the northern edge of the Cotswolds, it is home to some of the most beautiful towns and villages in the region. Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Bourton-on-the-Water are just three of the dozens of quaint English towns to visit. There are hundreds of miles of stunning countryside to explore. The views across the River Severn simply must be seen to be believed. Gloucestershire is an area of immense historical importance, as it is home to the 800-year-old Berkley Castle, the Great Witcombe Roman Villa and the stunning Tewkesbury Abbey.
