For a little more choice the Georgian market town of Richmond is 5.5 miles and the village of Northallerton is a 12-mile drive. Nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors there is also ample opportunity to stretch your legs and take in the achingly beautiful scenery. Picnic along the River Swale or venture into Aysgarth to explore fairy-tale woodland and waterfalls.
