North Yorkshire holiday cottages
The county of North Yorkshire is perhaps best known for the North York Moors. Stunning purple heather covers the rolling hills for as far as the eye can see. There is no better way to explore this natural beauty than aboard the famous NYMR (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) steam train that travels between Grosmont and Pickering. Families and children may like to pay a visit to Aidensfield which is located in this part of the North York Moors. The village was the setting for TV's Heartbeat and it was a location for the Harry Potter Movies. Cycling and walking enthusiasts will be in their element in this part of the world, as the region is home to over 1,200 miles of paths and cycle-tracks. The Cleveland Way National Trail and Sutton bank provide particularly stunning challenges for walkers and cyclists alike. Those visitors who want to enjoy a more sedate holiday may want to visit the sleepy market towns of Thirsk and Northallerton. They both feature a wide range of accommodation, many of the self catering Yorkshire cottages are pet friendly.
