The Welsh village of Llanuwchllyn is situated 5 miles from the town of Bala, at the southern end of Bala Lake. The village offers a shop, petrol station and pub serving excellent food, but is best known as the headquarters of the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway, which provides a 9 mile scenic journey along the shores of the famous lake. The market town of Bala is nearby, renowned as a centre for great water-sports including fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and white water rafting. The town itself is steeped in history and has a range of interesting shops, inns, restaurants and an historical Town Walk. Surrounded by the wonderful Berwyn mountain range, this is a mecca for walking, cycling and other outdoor activities.
